Journeys of the Heart

Refilling the Well With Michael Holmes

Michael Holmes, the Music Director of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring for 17 years, invites us into his music studio for an intimate conversation about life since the pandemic. He speaks about beginning to use music as “service for healing and spiritual food” rather than performance. He shares about a program he calls “Firesides” where congregants gather around their computers to watch concerts and groove together. He invites us to consider, “How will things be different in the future?” and “How are we doing things differently already now?”

Heart Tip

Michael shares with us some questions to ponder as well as a beautiful song for our listening pleasure: “When you’re feeling dry, there’s water in the well ... Dip the bucket deep; Dip the bucket long!” How much love is left in your tank? How can you dip in the well to refill? How might you share your gifts to make the world a more harmonious place to thrive?
